In this portrate, I liked the nose and the ears, but I didn't like how I drew the other parts of the drawing. This is because either the shape or the proportions were off. But, principles of design also went into creating it, some  including contrast and emphasis.

 Contrast because, there are very dark parts and very light parts. Also, emphasis because it causes the viewer to ficus on the eyes.

Some elements of design that were used as well were value and texture. Texture was used when showing the difference between the hair and skin for instance. Also, the value was used to show the shadows and other times or places where shadows are needed.
